The government has announced that microchipping of cats is set to become a legal requirement. It is estimated there are 2.8 million cats in the UK without a microchip meaning that reuniting them with their owner if they are lost or stolen becomes becomes too difficult. Under the new plans, cat owners must ensure their cat is microchipped by the age of 20 weeks.
