Surgery

We have two climate controlled operating theatres. One theatre we use exclusively for highly sterile operations such as orthopaedic and abdominal operations. The other theatre is used for all other procedures including dental surgery.

In-house laboratory

We have a laboratory equipped with hi-tech equipment that enables us to perform on the spot tests to help with diagnosing and treating your animals. We have blood machines that run blood tests giving us results in  minutes, a microscope to examine tissue and urine samples. There is a massive benefit in being able to obtain tests results quickly as it allows us to treat your animals very quickly. Not only is this exceptionally convenient but it is vital in critical cases.

These are the biochemistry and haematology blood machines that provide us with results in minutes.

On the left is the microscope that we use to examine urine samples looking for abnormal cells or presence of crystals. We also look at tissue and cell samples from swabs and needle aspirate samples. We also use it to perform worm egg counts on samples from horses, sheep and cattle. Above is the centrifuge use to prepare samples for the microscope and the blood test machines.

Separate Dog & Cat Wards

When your pet has to be hospitalised, whether it is for a day or for a week, it is very important that they are as calm and relaxed as possible. As well as having a team of caring nurse to look after their every need, we have separate dog and cat wards. Cats are far more relaxed in the quieter more peaceful environment of their own space and it makes a big difference for them during their stay.

Whenever our pets have to have an operation we can't help worrying about them especially about how they will cope with the anaesthetic. There are many protocols and many drugs that can be used to anaesthetise our patients which all cause different effects and have different levels of safety margins.

Every single animal that we anaesthetise her at Chaseview have the safest protocols andPuppy drugs that are available. It is not the cheapest but it is the safest and the best. It is safe to be used even in the smallest and youngest of patients that we see.

Here is a photo of a puppy that has just been born by Caesarean section. During this operation the puppies receives the same anaesthetic as the mother and with our protocols they wake up extremely quickly and are ready for their first feed long before we have even finished the operation.

Endoscopes

We have a selection of endoscopes that we use. These are tube like pieces of equipment that are either flexible or rigid with cameras at the tip. We use these to look in animal's airways or their digestive tract. We can use them to retrieve foreign bodies from the stomach or airways. We have removed many things in the past ranging from socks, watch straps and toys. We can also take samples from airways and stomachs by taking small tissue samples.

These photographs show the endoscopes being used to examine the airways of this dog. On the left the flexible endoscope can reach deep into the lungs. On the right the rigid endoscope is being used to to examine the nasal passages of the same dog.
